Lemhi County Humane Society is excited to participate in BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters adoption event May 11-17, 2026.
This nationwide event helps shelters across the country connect adoptable pets with loving families through reduced adoption fees. During the event, LCHS will offer $20 cat adoptions, $50 dog adoptions, and waived adoption fees for all senior pets.
Every adopted pet from LCHS is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before going home, helping set both pets and adopters up for success.
Empty the Shelters has helped nearly 400,000 pets find homes since it began in 2016, and we are proud to once again join shelters across the country in celebrating adoption. Events like this not only help animals find families but also create much-needed space and resources for shelters to continue helping pets in need.
Senior pets in particular often wait longer for homes, despite making wonderful companions. By waiving adoption fees for senior animals during the event, we hope more people will consider opening their homes to an older pet looking for a soft place to land.
