SAS provides high-quality sheltering services for the homeless pets of Lemhi County.
Become a Friend of the Shelter!
Join a community of animal lovers who believe every pet deserves safety, dignity, and love. As a Friend of the Shelter, your support helps us care for animals in need whether it’s an abandoned kitten, a lost dog, or an aging pet whose owner can no longer care for them. Your support means they’ll be met with open arms and a soft place to land.
When you become a Friend of the Shelter, you’ll receive a sticker, insider updates, and invitations to Friends-only events celebrating the animals and people who make this work possible.
Lemhi County Humane Society is a non-profit, charitable 501(c)(3) organization, and your donations are tax-deductible.
Humane Society Hours:
Wednesday – Monday 11 am – 5 pm
Closed Tuesdays
Rags & Wags Thrift Store Hours:
Monday – Friday: 8 am – 6 pm
Saturday: 9 am – 6 pm
Wait for it… 🐾💥 Slo-mo proof that Zeus did not miss the toy—he caught it, tossed it aside, and upgraded to a bigger one! We’re so glad we captured this moment because our senior man still has some impressive moves. Zeus loves to relax, collect all the squeaky toys, and ‘manage’ the office (usually from his heated blanket during a well-earned nap 😴). He’s house-trained, great with everyone, and ready to trade office life for a cozy home of his own. 🐾 Empty the Shelters was a success—thanks to YOU! 🐾
Because of our amazing community, 12 cats and 4 dogs found loving homes during our Empty the Shelters event ❤️
But while some kennels emptied, our humane society is still far from empty! We have many wonderful animals still waiting for their forever families.
Our Senior Cat adoption fees have been paid, so all they need now is a loving place to spend their golden years!

Little Miss Safflower is officially off to her happily-ever-after 🌼🐾
This sweet kitten has been adopted, and we couldn’t be more excited for her as she starts her new life full of love, cozy naps, and all the treats she deserves. Watching our kittens find their families never gets old!
