Summer Snip Special: Save on Spay & Neuter This June & July

If you’ve been thinking about getting your pet spayed or neutered, summer is a great time to do it. Through our Summer Snip Special, Lemhi County Humane Society is helping make these important procedures more affordable for local pet owners.

Throughout the months of June and July, pet owners can receive coupons worth $60 toward a cat spay or neuter and $80 toward a dog spay or neuter at participating Salmon veterinary clinics. Simply schedule your appointment with Andy’s Animal Hospital or Blue Cross Veterinary Clinic, then stop by LCHS during June or July to pick up your coupon before your appointment.

Learn how the coupons work, what’s covered, participating clinics, and other important details by reading the full Summer Snip Special announcement.

Move over, professional athletes... Mia is training for the Flower Sniffing Olympics 🌼

This tiny Malinois mix spent her afternoon frolicking through the clover, stopping every few steps to inspect the flowers (quality control is important, after all). Between soaking up endless pets and bouncing through the grass, she made sure our mini photo shoot was full of laughs.

We're pretty sure Mia believes every flower deserves a sniff, every patch of grass deserves a zoomie, and every person she meets should immediately become her best friend.

Enjoy these adorable (and slightly ridiculous) photos of our little flower frolicker. Mia is ready to bring all of her silly adventures to a forever home!

Our Empty the Shelters event is off to a fantastic start!

We are so excited to share that 4 adorable kittens have already found their forever homes! Thank you to everyone who has chosen to adopt and give these little ones the loving homes they deserve.

We're just getting started! Over the next few weeks, many more kittens will be finishing their spay and neuter surgeries and becoming available for adoption. We have a whole crew of playful, cuddly friends who can't wait to meet their future families!

Now through July 23rd, all adoptable pets are just $40, and all senior pets (7+ years) have a $0 adoption fee during the Empty the Shelters event. There has never been a better time to welcome a new best friend into your family.

Come meet your perfect match and help us keep the momentum going. We can't wait to celebrate even more happy adoption stories with our community! Thanks to BISSELL Pet Foundation and Cathy Bissell for these great events!

🎆 These sweet strays were brought to us over the Fourth of July, and they're patiently waiting for their people to come take them home. 🐾❤️

Yes—we've checked every pet for a microchip, and for those with registered owners, we've reached out. We're still hoping their families will come reclaim them.

If one of these pets belongs to you, please contact us as soon as possible.

A gentle reminder: if you need to surrender your pet, please don't rely on them becoming a stray to enter the shelter. We have a surrender process in place to help ensure animals receive the best care possible and that we have the space and resources to responsibly take them in.

Please help us by sharing this post so these friends can find their way back where they belong. 🏡

As promised here are the behind the scenes!
Let's just say... there were a lot of hot dogs, plenty of whipped cream, countless squeaky toys, and more than a few dogs who thought the props were snacks. 😂❤️🤍💙

Our Fourth of July photoshoot was full of wagging tails, goofy grins, and plenty of bloopers that made us laugh all afternoon. These pups were absolute stars (even if some were a little more interested in the treats than the camera!).

❤️ Happy Fourth of July from all of us at the Lemhi County Humane Society! ❤️

We hope everyone in our wonderful community had a safe, fun, and memorable Independence Day spent with family, friends, and of course, your furry companions!

Our shelter pups got in on the celebration too with a special Fourth of July feast. They enjoyed hot dogs, pup cups, and plenty of whipped cream, making for a day full of wagging tails, happy barks, and some very satisfied bellies! Watching them enjoy these little moments of joy is one of our favorite parts of the holiday, and we know you'll love seeing their excitement just as much as we did.

A huge thank you to everyone who continues to support our shelter and the animals in our care. Whether you've adopted, volunteered, fostered, donated, or simply cheered us on, you help make special days like this possible for our deserving dogs.

📸 Stay tuned tomorrow because we'll be sharing all of the hilarious photos from today's celebration! Let's just say there were plenty of whipped cream noses, goofy smiles, and expressions that are guaranteed to make you laugh.

From our shelter family to yours, Happy Fourth of July! We hope you all have a safe evening, and don't forget to keep your pets safe and secure during the fireworks. ❤️🤍💙🐾

Holiday Weekend Stray Dog Reminder 🐾

As we head into the busy holiday weekend, we want to remind everyone that our staff will still be at the shelter every day caring for the animals. While our offices may have adjusted hours, the animals are always our priority!

To help keep lost dogs safe over the holiday, we've expanded our stray dog kennels located on the west side of our building. Each kennel is stocked with fresh water and a comfortable bed, giving stray dogs a safe place to wait while we work to reunite them with their families.

Please do not place cats in these kennels.

If you bring in a stray dog:
🐾 Place the dog in an available kennel.
🐾 Lock the kennel door after placing the dog inside.
🐾 Follow the posted instructions to provide us with the information we need.

If you're looking for your missing dog, there are also clear instructions posted on how to safely reclaim your pet.

This temporary holiday process helps us create a proper paper trail, verify ownership, and reunite pets with their families as quickly and safely as possible.

Please note: Today, our office will close at 4:00 PM! Even after we close, our team will continue caring for the animals throughout the weekend.

Thank you for helping us keep our community's pets safe this holiday weekend!
