Lemhi County Humane Society owns & operates the Salmon Animal Shelter and Rags & Wags Thrift Store.
SAS provides high-quality sheltering services for the homeless pets of Lemhi County.
We also provide funds for public spay and neuter programs in an attempt to decrease the number of dogs and cats entering our shelter. We serve as a line of defense against animal abuse & neglect, working closely with law enforcement officials, to ensure that all animals in Lemhi County are treated in a kind and humane manner.

10:00am – 6:00pm
7 Days a Week
Rags & Wags Thrift Store Hours:
8:00am – 4:00pm M-F
10:00 – 2:00pm on Saturday

We are thrilled to announce that we will participate in the Bissell Pet Foundations Empty the Shelters National Adoption Event! We will hold the event from May 1st through May 10th at the Lemhi County Humane Society! Our fees will be reduced to $20 for a feline and $40 for a canine! Thank you to the Bissellpet-foundation and Cathy Bissell for helping over 410 shelters find loving homes for their furry friends!

We just wanted to drop in and say our kittens are all happy, healthy, and gaining weight! These cuties are not quite ready for adoption but we will do another weight check in a week to see how close they are! These kittens are almost 6 weeks old and still enjoying time with their mom! Meet our Bachelorette, Ember, a sweet and shy lady who was surrendered to us because her owner moved to another state and couldn't take her along. She has excellent manners and is an expert at loafing. Ember prefers to be an only pet or have other cat friends. We are excited to get to know her better as she adjusts to the community cat room.
