Lemhi County Humane Society owns & operates the Salmon Animal Shelter and Rags & Wags Thrift Store.
SAS provides high-quality sheltering services for the homeless pets of Lemhi County.
We also provide funds for public spay and neuter programs in an attempt to decrease the number of dogs and cats entering our shelter. We serve as a line of defense against animal abuse & neglect, working closely with law enforcement officials, to ensure that all animals in Lemhi County are treated in a kind and humane manner.

Rags & Wags Thrift Store Hours:
8:00am – 4:00pm M-F
10:00 – 2:00pm on Saturday
We had a busy day with three adoptions, Howl, Bodhi, and Finn all found their FURever homes as part of our Empty the Shelter event. We are grateful to our adopters, Cathy Bissell and Bissellpet-foundation for their support. FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME WANTED! We know that our animal lovers have huge hearts and are always willing to help. We are asking for your help to find a loving home for two senior dogs who have spent their entire lives chained in a yard without receiving any veterinary care. One of the dogs had an abscess that took up half his face when he arrived, but he is almost done with his medication and will be ready to go to his new home on 5-15-2024 along with his friend. We hope these two dogs can find a place where they can be free to roam and have a comfortable life in a yard. They are not potty trained due to their life history, but that should not stop them from receiving the love they deserve. How is Spooky handling the kitten action?
We had our first adoption during the Bissell adoption event! Willow went to her furever home this weekend and is doing fantastic! Our Bissell Empty the Shelters event is happening until May 10th. Meet the new girl on our block, Chili! She is a spunky and sweet Pyrenees and Rottweiler mix believed to be less than 10 months old. She is housebroken, crate-trained, and knows to sit and stay!
