In this update: A heartfelt thank you from Peanut Butter and Jelly – Salmon salutes our Rags & Wags thrift store – The numbers you make possible!

A Heartfelt Thank You from Peanut Butter & Jelly

We just wanted you to know: We are warm, safe, and very much loved now; thanks to you

These two little Teacup Yorkies came into the shelter weighing less than 5 pounds each.  They were emaciated, dirty, and with several severe health issues, making them far less adoptable.

Peanut Butter in particular, had serious issues with his hind legs.  He was most likely in serious pain, and had a noticeably abnormal gait.  Jelly had two large masses on her hind-end, and noticeable cataracts impairing her vision.

Thanks to your support Peanut Butter got the surgery he needed to repair his hind leg.  And while he may still need a follow-up procedure, results-to-date have been spectacular!  He can now move around pain-free.  Jelly was able to have cataract surgery to improve her eyesight.  And they were adopted together into a loving forever home!  A family that was willing to take on adult dogs with special ongoing medical needs; an adoptive family for which we are so grateful and so happy for Peanut Butter & Jelly!

We still have a lot of love left to share. Jelly & Peanut Butter happy in their new home.

Want to create more happy endings for the animals?

In August Salmon saluted Lemhi County Humane Society’s Rags & Wags Thrift Store.  The thrift store is owned and operated by Lemhi County Humane Society.  All the profits from Rags & Wags go to support the Humane Society’s Salmon Animal Shelter.

In 2010 the Lemhi County Humane Society purchased the Odd Fellows building and began remodeling the historic downtown landmark to house the thrift store.

Volunteers at Rags & Wags are vital to day to day operations – working the cash register, creating displays, stocking merchandise, and much more.  Sometimes even working hands-on with the animals when adoptable cats and kittens are at Rags & Wags.  We can always use volunteers at our Thrift Store and Shelter.  For more information on how to volunteer at either location visit our website at https://salmonanimalshelter.com/how-you-can-help.

A big thank you to our volunteers, thrift store employees, and patrons!  You make our lifesaving work possible.

Thank you for another great Adopt-A-Thon event in October 2021. This year we were sponsored by Bissell Pet Foundation!
